Stretch Ceiling Systems can be used to create 3-Dimensional wall and ceiling shapes. This installation technique begins with one of our Stretch Ceiling Specialists conducting a site visit and discussing what shape is desired. The membrane can accommodate hundreds of different shapes including waves, columns, geometric forms, domes, arches, etc. Measurements are taken of the space, as well as any additional information that may be needed. Drawings are then made of the ceiling shape and sent to our factory for production. The membrane can be made in any color or finish and can be micro-perforated to enhance the sound quality of the panel. The membrane is factory shrunk approximately 6% smaller than the survey measurements, and is shipped within 14 days.
While the membrane is in production we construct the frame which the membrane will be stretched over. This aluminum frame is bent, curved, and/or welded to create the skeleton for the desired 3-Dimensional shape. Next the Stretch Ceiling System profile is screw-attached to the frame. The ceiling profiles are custom aluminum extrusions designed with small channels which the ceiling will stretch over and tuck into.
To finish the construction of the shapes, the frame system is installed in the space, typically using screws to attach to the walls and/ceilings. The membrane is heated then stretched over the frame. This allows for the membrane to become pliable and easily stretched. Using specially designed spatula tools the membrane is clipped into the profile.
Once the stretch ceiling is installed and cooled, the membrane obtains a molecular memory. This molecular memory prevents the ceiling from being permanently indented or impressed. If the membrane is pressed upon it quickly returns to its original taunt shape.
