This installation technique begins by determining the size of the panel desired, either by dimensions you provide for us or one of our stretch ceiling specialists visiting the job site and taking measurements. Drawings are then made of the ceiling shape and sent to our factory for production. The membrane can be made in any color or finish and can be micro-perforated to enhance the sound quality of the panel. The membrane is factory shrunk approximately 6% smaller than the survey measurements, and is shipped within 14 days.
While the membrane is in production we construct the frame which the membrane will be stretched over. This frame creates the skeleton for the suspended panel and comes in several finish options (anodized aluminum, non-anodized aluminum, white powder coating and black powder coating). This specially designed aluminum frame has our ceiling system profile built into it; the profile is a small channel which the ceiling perimeter will tuck into.
Depending on the size, a panel can be fully constructed and shipped ready-to-hang or all the pieces can be shipped to the job site for a Stretch Ceiling System installation crew to install. To finish the construction of the panel the membrane is heated then stretched over the circular frame. This allows for the membrane to become pliable and easily stretched. Using specially designed spatula tools the membrane is clipped into the profile.
Once the stretch ceiling is installed and cooled, the membrane obtains a molecular memory. This molecular memory prevents the ceiling from being permanently indented or impressed. If the membrane is pressed upon it quickly returns to its original taunt shape.
The square panel is then suspended from the existing ceiling using aircraft cable.
