This installation technique begins with one of our Stretch Ceiling Specialists conducting a site visit and measuring the ceiling area. Drawings are then made of the ceilings and sent to our factory where the ceiling is produced. The membrane can be made in any color or finish and can be micro-perforated to enhance the sound quality of the panel. While the ceiling membrane is being produced our Stretch Ceiling installation crew will install the profile to the walls or ceiling around the perimeter of the room, following any wall curvatures, columns, soffits, etc. The ceiling profiles are aluminum extrusions custom designed to act as the frame for our membrane system to stretch over and hook into.
The membrane is factory shrunk approximately 6% smaller than the survey measurements, and is shipped to the site normally within 14 days. Once the ceiling membrane arrives the installation crew will heat the room to 104°-115°F. This allows for the membrane to become pliable and easily stretched. Using specially designed spatula tools the membrane is clipped into the profile. Any type of light, sprinkler head or aperture can be accommodated within the ceiling membrane. Reinforcement rings are glued to the membrane where the fixtures are. These rings prevent any ripping or stretching. Once the rings are applied holes are cut in the membrane and the fixtures are brought through.
Once the stretch ceiling is installed and cooled, the membrane obtains a molecular memory. This memory allows for easy removal and reinstallation in the future if for any reason the ceiling needs to be taken out. The molecular memory also prevents the ceiling from being permanently indented or impressed. If the membrane is pressed upon it quickly returns to its original taunt shape.
